The conference sessions present an integrated topic, "Advancements in Automotive Materials and Manufacturing Technologies", which aims to introduce the development trends and results related to the industrial challenges in modern vehicle production, as well as the related developments in manufacturing technologies. Parallel to the growth of the semiconductor industry, the automobile industry has undergone significant changes in the last decades due to the advancements in hybrid and fully electric vehicles, and self-driving cars. The changes in consumer needs and technical requirements have induced research in the field of both metallic and non-metallic (polymeric) materials. As a consequence, researchers and development engineers necessarily face novel challenges in the field of manufacturing technologies. The stricter environmental protection regulations that are closely related to this greatly emphasize recyclability, weight reduction, and the use of biodegradable and renewable materials.

Technological developments involve traditional manufacturing techniques such as metal forming, machining, plastic forming, welding, and heat treatment, and state-of-the-art technologies such as metal 3D printing and other laser-assisted manufacturing techniques as well.

Development opportunities in the field of polymer composites include, among other things, the application of natural fibers as reinforcements, using additives that increase thermal conductivity or help prevent combustion. These, and the production of cellular structures offer environmental and functional advantages in material selection. In addition to material and
technological developments, the development of material testing methods, such as non-destructive testing, such as computed tomography plays an important role in the development and quality assurance processes.

In these sessions, material development-focused studies, novel manufacturing solutions, and research results related to material testing challenges in the field of automotive industry will
be presented.
