Diagnostics and Testing Technologies of Vehicles

The field of vehicle diagnostics was established and began to develop as an instrumented and non-destructive condition test from around the 1970s. With the development of vehicle technology and information technology, this field has undergone significant progress every 20 years on average. Currently, the so-called ECO-diagnostics (Ecology and Economy) covers a large part of the focus area, as we want to operate and maintain environmentally friendly and economical vehicles.

The session will therefore cover diagnostic and testing technologies related to vehicles (be they road or rail) and the methodological basics of diagnostics. In line with the current state of the art, measurement and testing topics related to advanced vehicle technology (electric drive, autonomous vehicles, alternative propulsion, etc.) will play an important role in the theme of the presentations. This includes topics such as driver assistance systems, that can be implemented with on-board diagnostic tools/data.

Measurement methodologies for measuring and assessing energy savings are also an important topic, together with the environmental noise and exhaust emission loads and their test methods. We are confident that the presentations of the session will cover the state-of-the-art diagnostic and measurement knowledge and competences of today's modern automotive technology and will reveal new synergies in context for the participants.
